Excuse me, it’s my phone…..
![]()
Rudy Giuliani took a call on his cell from his wife in the middle of giving a speech to the National Rifle Association: So I guess I shouldn’t feel so sheepish when my phone (which I use as a clock) buzzes during class. I wait until after my class is over to call back but can’t help glancing at the phone’s screen to see who calls; last Friday it was Charlie’s school calling (to ask if I had given him cough syrup because he was so drowsy).
Of course, if I picked up the phone I would only be interrupting a Latin class at a small college, not an audience of NRA members. And I’m no Rudy Giuliani……… Perhaps some interruptions are more important than others.

Usually, people get annoyed when audience members have cell phones on, so it’s funny enough when a presenter not only has a cell phone ring during a presentation of any kind, but then answers it on-stage. It’s even weirder considering he really has a tougher audience in the NRA, so you’d think that’d have been avoided.

We’ve been wondering if the call into his cell was not exactly “accidental”…….

Well, there’s one potential there; that he really didn’t want to talk to the NRA about the gun issue. But he already had a speech that skirted the issue with political rhetoric, so though it isn’t like he needed to take a call that avoid it. Otherwise, it comes off as just odd, which may well have just been.
You wonder, though, when else he would he would take a call.
“Hey, honey, how are you? Oh, sure, you can change that picture, that’s fine. Hey, do you want to talk to the U.N Security Council?”
Oh, the possibilities.

The gunbloggers have been all over this. We “gun nuts” are right suspicious about his recent (pretended?) conversion to being a pro-2nd amendment guy. The anti-gun lawsuit he instigated a while back is going forward while he’s pretending to believe in liberty.
Curiously, my VirginMobile phone has a feature called “rescue ring” to have your phone ring to get you out of an awkward situation. I don’t think he has one of those, just a staffer watching the video feed with finger poised over the speed-dial button. I don’t believe it was his wife. He doesn’t seem to do the husband-and-wife thing very well.
Everyone running for Prez is pretty bad, but the two least bad seem to me to be Ron Paul and Fred Thompson. I voted for Paul the last time he ran.
Of the Demonrats, Richardson is OK on guns but very bad on immigration.
I’m very much afraid we’ll end up with that woman from Illinois who is as heavy as a duck. W seems to have resigned himself to that and is already briefing her staff on things she’ll need to know.
