“It’s okay. It’s okay!”
That is a direct quote from my son Charlie. He has said it several times over the past week after being nervous, and wringing his features and looking distressed, and moving about in an agitated way. He has been one moment repeating certain words—foods he likes, the names of a teacher—-and then pausing, and then saying “it’s okay, it’s okay” and looking up at Jim or me.
If it’s okay by Charlie, it certainly is by me.

My daughter started doing this this summer too. I think she heard us say it so much during all of the afternoon thunderstorms that scare her so much. Now she will say, “It’s OK, It’s OK” when she has to go into the gym at school (scary balls) and other times when she gets nervous, but it seems to help her soothe herself.

Our guy went through an it’s OK phase, too. It’s a very good phase to go through because, after all, it is actually OK. And when you can express that, and see that other people agree with you, it’s very calming. Good for Charlie.

Joey does “It’s okay” when he’s nervous or upset. He used to scream it over and over when he spilled something. It’s like a mantra of reassurance. Cue to give him a big hug.

Jon does this too, started a few months ago. I noticed it works to calm him down..to reassure himself that it IS “okay.” I love it. Good for Charlie!!

AWW My warren does that. When I went into labor I woke up and he was standing over me going “Its Okay”
