John Elder Robison Reads at 7pm in NYC tonight

Look Me in the Eye: An Aspergian Book Author Writes About Books, Asperger’s, Autism, and Life, John Elder Robison’s memoir of growing up with Asperger’s (before knowing that he had Asperger’s), appears in bookstores today and the author will be at the Union Square Barnes and Noble in New York City tonight at 7pm. I was kindly invited to attend and I want to very much to be there. I first heard about Look Me in the Eye back in February and have been eagerly, and curiously, looking forward to its publication. What better way to spend an evening than among books in a bookstore, and hearing about a book about……books. I’m not able to go: It would be something of a trip to make with Charlie on a weekday night; he has been through too many transitions of late. We usually make trips into New York City on the weekend and I think it best not to add any confusion to his week.
Fortunately I have my copy of Look Me in the Eye and am liking where its pages take me. But if you’ve a chance to hear John Robison tonight, it’ll be an event to remember, and resavor when you read his words.

Darn! I hate it when these opportunities arise and they can’t happen. Autism: The Musical was here in Seattle and I missed it for similar reasons as yours. Routine, etc, plus, my son is only 3! ;-) I’m hoping my book arrives today in the mail - I found out about it from your blog. Thanks!
