Luke Carter - Published Author of Three Books and an “Aspie” - Age 16 !

by Adelle Tilton on November 27th, 2005

“Without any Asperger’s, the world wouldn’t go around: they have application and dedication,” Luke Jackson, a 16 year-old boy with Asperger’s Syndrome. He is also a published author and professional speaker about Asperger’s.

Luke was raised in a family of seven children, four of which have autism. Luke has published three books; two on adolescence and Asperger’s, and one that is the “user’s guide,” to living on, and with, the Gluten-Free Casein-Free Diet. Considering he has accomplished this at such a young age, it will be interesting to see what he does after having reached the wise old age of 16.

Acress, Helen Bonham Carter, was recently in England (and this is related to Luke, so hang in there) getting to know the Jackson family, as she is playing the role of the mother in a film about this woman and her family. The film, a “BBC” release, airs in December, and is called, “The Magnificent Seven.” Carter commented that she had little knowledge of autism before meeting this family and other people with autism. She found it interesting due to the fact that her partner, Tim Burton, best known for “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” displays many traits of Asperger’s. She wondered, after her experience, how many people in Burton’s line of work, may also have Asperger’s.
