“The Speed of Dark” by Elizabeth Moon. I’ve only read it once because it was loaned by a friend, but I plan to buy it for myself & reread it. It’s science fiction, but written by an autism mom with an autistic protagonist & just amazing…

Temple Grandin’s “Thinking in Pictures.” I read it about once a year.

Not sure what it is about the book, it just helps me keep things in perspective. (It also helps me understand my own world view just a little bit better.)

There are passages of Emergence I’ve often turned back too—the sections on the cattle facilities and the squeeze machine stay in my mind.

    Hallo from Greece!
I read often a book translated in Greek that is called “THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT TIME” by Mark Haddon.
I do not know if you know this book but it is very interesting! by this book you can learn how the autistic mind works!

I like the book very much—while not everyone agrees about how Haddon portrays or represents autism, I have met more and more people who know about autism because of the book.

Angela, a question for you (I teach ancient Greek at a college in New Jersey): what is the modern Greek for “autism”?

    Good morning from raining Athens!
In morden Greek autism called “ΑΥΤΙΣΜΟΣ”, “ΑUTISMOS”, which I believe is the same as in ancient Greek, they must have the same root!!!!

And I HAD to read Ask and Tell (AAPC publishers) over and over b/c of doing page prooofs. Whee.

I feel like Im leaving people out here….
