Readabook!

by Kristina Chew, PhD on November 18th, 2006

Charlie just said that. And, with equal clarity:

Good night noises.

In grey green room there wuzza telephone anda redballoon, anda pick-ture uhvah

COW jumpingg overr the moon.

He is reciting—scripting—-the words from Goodnight Moon, which he knows parts of by heart. I have been noticing that Charlie’s scripted speech (”Stella car!” “Barney book!”) is much more clear than his usual speech, when he asks for something or does his best to respond to our questions.

He has had plenty of chances to repeat those words—-and it shows how very well he can talk. It just takes repeated practice.
