Smoke and Sparks
“Dealing with autism is like trying to grab smoke.”
That’s a description of autism—the opening paragraph of an article last month, in the April 22nd Vallejo Times Herald (CA)—that I have not heard before. The article focuses on the Anova Center for Education and its students and teaching methods.
I will say, though, that once Charlie gets going doing something, learning something—-as when he pulled himself up onto his bike to ride off with his dad today into the afternoon sunlight and the wilderness (New Jersey style—on a dirt road miles from home Charlie was fretful but then how he beamed as he crossed familiar streets getting nearer to home)—the sparks do start to fly.

I’m hoping this will be the year that our son learns how to ride a bike.
Hope your Mother’s Day was great, Kristina!

A few anxious moments (mine; Charlie’s) but so long as the sun is shining (and even when it’s not)—-hope you had a wonderful day too! And I’d like much to know how your son does learning to ride a bike.
