So Much for a Night at the Movies

by Kristina Chew, PhD on May 19th, 2008

It used to be a running joke between Jim and me that, since I was expecting Charlie, we’ve seen a total of two movies in a theater together (this and this, so you can get an idea of when we last went). With the price of a movie date running upwards of $30, am thinking we are better off with Netflix and the couch.

4 opinions for So Much for a Night at the Movies

I hear you…times 3! Our thing now is to dvr our favorite shows (Lost, Bones, CSI and House)…and save them up for “movie night”. Sometimes, even with Netflix - which I love, you can’t agree on a movie to watch. That said, both the dvr and Netflix are a blessing to our budget and our bums.

Without Netflix (and Youtube and online trailers) I would probably never see another movie again!

    $30 bucks? Ouch.
The last two times we went to the movies se ended up sitting in front of folks who felt compelled to narrate the plot or make calls on the cell phone, so waiting a little longer for it to come out on rental/sale is not too much of a strain.

Fortunately we are all Pixar and Harry Potter fans so family viewing works (the popcorn is fresher and you can watch in your PJs (smile)).

No movie theater where I live. We do netflix and love it.
Maybe you have a second run theater. They can be cheap and fun.
