This Might Sting
The Onion offers its take on the new study countering an autism-vaccine link, with predictably stinging-you-in-the-eye results. One “Penelope Budisch, Concierge,” is “quoted”:
“I am unmoved by these findings. The amount of scientific evidence I’ve made up in my mind is too significant to refute.”
Funny but that last line doesn’t sound so far from the truth……… One hears too about mercury air pollution wafting over to us from China…….

I love The Onion. Some days when I’m feeling down, I’ll just browse their headlines.

Youre right the first one is too true to be funny.
The other two here are saying:
One says the kid is dead.
The other says the only other option is to balme it on the parents? I thought that was the first conclusion.
What is that. Some kind of threat that if we can’t find anything else to blame it on (and of course acceptance and accomidations are out of the question) that we have to go back to blaming it on the parents?

God bless the Onion. I read it almost every day (we have book collections).

@Ed, I don’t think the “blaming the parents” theory is quite as “dead” as it is thought to be.

Who thinks that? Parents are completly in power and alot of them are causing alot of problems for autistics.
It just doesn’t help to say that they case autism itself because the shame just leads people to repeat bad behavior.

The best satire is such that it actually describes the views of some while showing it to be entirely deficient. This is a great example of how The Onion does satire right.

I was coming here to look around for a place to post The Onion bit, only to see that Kristina was already on top of it. Of course. (Now if you would only get a chance to blog about the Brain, Child article…)
